Transitional Services Division
The Transitional Services Division provides library services to the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden and to the Erie County Holding Center in downtown Buffalo.
Correctional Facility Library
Contains both a law library and a public library with a general collection of over 7,000 books used by inmates for recreation and education. The extensive law collection is accessible through the use of legal databases. Computers without internet access are available to inmates for research and other legal work.
Holding Center Library
Offers both legal and popular materials collections. All inmates have access to legal databases while awaiting trial. Inmates may also borrow materials from Central Library collection upon request, some restrictions apply.
Connections: A Guide to Transitional Services in Erie County
This guide is compiled by library staff and is updated annually. Contains lists of services needed by ex-offenders including, crisis services and counseling, employment and education, housing and food, legal, medical, substance abuse, transportation, and veterans benefits.
